BILL AND TED FACE THE MUSIC - by Urizon

Years I have waited for this day! Finally the time has come where we get another installment in the most excellent Bill & Ted series. When this movie was announced, I was instantly super excited. I am a big, big fan of Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey. They aren’t masterpieces by any means, but my God, they are really enjoyable.  I did have a little bit of worry with this movie considering it has been about 30 years and Keanu has moved on to more serious roles. That little bit of worry did not stop me from buying it day one though.

Bill & Ted Face the Music brings back Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter to reprise their roles as the titular Bill & Ted. Taking place in the present day, the story deals with the fact that despite all of this time, Bill and Ted have yet to write the prophesied song that would unite the world. Meanwhile, they are raising their daughters while having their wives being unhappy in their relationship. Things are bad to say the least. As Ted starts to tell Bill that he is tired and doesn’t think they will be able to write the song, Rufus' daughter Kelly, played by Kristen Schaal, arrives and brings them to the future to talk to her mother, the Great Leader, played by Holland Taylor. The Great Leader informs them that they only have until 7:17 PM that day to write and play the song or reality will fully collapse. Getting stuck, the two decide to instead go to the future to steal the song from a version of themselves that has already written it. Meanwhile, to help their dads, their daughters Billie, played by Brigette Lundy-Payne, and Thea, played by Samara Weaving, deciding to go throughout history to get some of the greatest musicians of all time to form a band for their fathers. Will it all be enough to save the universe? Was this movie any good?

I can answer at least that second question with a giant yes. This was a most excellent movie. Bill and Ted Face the Music does a good job at getting you right back into the feel of things. Bill and Ted do still have the same overall feel as characters, while also feeling genuinely older and a bit more mature. When you want that classic feel of the original movies though,  you have Billie and Thea. It provides a nice mix of things. I can’t begin to express how happy I am that this movie turned out well.

It is worth first mentioning how well the acting is in this movie. The returning cast does such a good job at slipping right back into these characters, it is amazing. On top of that Brigette Lundy-Payne and Samara Weaving absolutely nail their roles as Billie and Thea. As much as I really, really enjoyed Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter again, these two did such a good job that they stole the show. I can’t really think of a poorly acted role in this movie honestly. I think everyone did a great job.

The story also is really good. I had a bit of concern as far as certain story elements were concerned and plot holes, but the movie did a good job at quickly addressing those things and I think pretty logically at that. Face the Music does a great job at combining elements of both the first and second movie while also adding some new stuff along the way. The twists for the movie seem fairly obvious, but I’m not as upset about them as some others may be.  The humor too is another thing that the film handles really well for the most part. There is one side character later on that is rather annoying. They are supposed to be, but it is done maybe a little too well.

Minus the fact that the movie ends rather abruptly (which I really don’t mind), I think my biggest nitpick is that the effects aren’t the greatest. That being said, I think I saw that the budget for this was very low, so it isn’t surprising. Even with that, the bad effects sort of add to the experience. You’re able to brush it off because it is Bill and Ted. It is a bit like watching Doctor Who; it is just part of the charm and experience.

Bill and Ted Face the Music is certainly not a movie for everyone. If you didn’t like the first two movies, you’re not going to have a good time here. The humor and over all feel are almost identical to the first after all. While a bit abrupt, and sure to upset some people, I think this movie is the perfect probable end to the series and one that is sure to make most fans happy. All in all, I have to say that Bill and Ted Face the Music is a totally not bogus, excellent film that should be watched.

AVENGER ENDGAME - Spoiler Free by Urizen

AVENGER ENDGAME SPOILER FREE By Urizen 11 years ago Marvel released Iron Man and with that started one of the greatest cinematic universes of all time. With now 22 movies, the MCU has helped shape the super hero movie genre and has created not only what would be considered amazing super hero movies, but just great movies in general. Since the release of the first Avengers movie, we have been building up to this movie. Ever since that tease of Thanos, we all knew something big was coming. By the end of Infinity War, we got it. The stakes were higher than they had ever been. Naturally after all of this, expectations for Avengers Endgame were so high. I was a bit worried. I had a feeling it would be great, but I worried that everyone’s expectations were almost too high. Boy was I wrong. This movie absolutely exceeded all of that. Avengers Endgame may be the best Avengers movie and maybe the best MCU movie so far. It was to the point that even for a three hour long...

SHAZAM by Urizen

Well here we go, after one Captain Marvel, we jump right into another with Shazam. Shazam is another character I am sad to admit I'm not terribly familiar with. I have seen him more often in supporting roles over time such as in Young Justice and the Injustice comic series. I know he is a young boy named Billy Batson who receives power from a wizard named Shazam. Upon saying the name, he is struck by a bolt of lightning and transforms. Shazam (the hero) has the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and finally the speed of Mercury. Beyond that all I really know is that one of his main foes is Black Adam, who will eventually be played by Dwayne Johnson. Leading up to this gave me about the same feeling I had when going into Captain Marvel. There's this excitement of not knowing much about the character and getting truly introduced to them with them being front and center.   Obviously with DC's...

MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL by Urizen

Here come the Men in Black! I have gone back and forth on this franchise’s future for years now. Rumors and plans have been thrown around for a while, including a weird 21 Jump Street crossover (dodged a bullet there), yet nothing had really came to fruition until recently when we got the announcement for Men In Black International. My hope continued to grow more and more as it was announced that Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth would be starring in it. The two worked great together in Thor Ragnarok and both are great at acting, so it had to be good. As the trailer came out, it seemed like an interesting twist, but also kept the same feel of the original series. As usual though, the reviews came, and I grew worried. I didn’t know what I was getting into.    Men In Black: International deals with Thompson's Agent M, who as a child rescued an alien that had broken into her house while being chased by the MIB. While her parents got neuralized and forgot th...
